Final Prints - When changes are made to a photo on the computer, the information is digital. The final print could take several forms at this point:
Good:
Ink-jet printers today can output photographic quality prints very reasonably. It could be printed directly to a printer and onto glossy photo quality paper. The unknown with ink-jet inks is how long will they last? If you're not concerned with the life of the print, this may be good enough. We use these prints for our approval print process.
Better:
The digital file can be reproduced into regular negative-type photographic film. A negative allows you to make additional prints anytime in the future. This can be done at a reasonable cost and allows us to make your final print in the traditional photographic method. These prints can be expected to last, when properly stored or displayed, from 12 to 50 years.
Best:
Processes are now available that use very stable pigments instead of dyes. Prints made from this process will outlast present day traditional photographic prints, and the colors and accuracy can be stunning, especially with colorful nature photography. This is a completely digital process and no negative is made. The cost of this process is also the most expensive. This service is not done in-house and will be quoted on a per job basis. With this process, color prints are expected to last as long as traditional black and white prints.
Of course, any combination of the above is possible. Depending on your needs, we can arrange to have your photos printed to suit you. After all, we are here to help preserve your visual memories. Back to: order form
